清末年間,公司創辦人陳秋南由福建遷往汕頭,憑藉當地地利,利用僅有的一萬元與人合作經營海產、雜貨及涼果等貿易生意;並善用港口交通,得以通商至上海、天津、溫州等地。

第二代傳人陳川如,出生於1910年,繼承父業後於18歲時立志另起爐灶,獨立創建萬順昌;公司名字源自對公司能順風順水,昌盛繁榮的願望。

萬順昌於1928年創立於廣東省汕頭市潮安街10號。秉承了第一代的經營原則,著重誠信,大力提高貨物品質。產品範圍維持於高級海產海味,雜貨涼果等。因為堅持誠信待人,於同業間樹立起良好口碑,在短短不到10年間生意額急速增長;高峰期間在汕頭買地自置倉庫,並擁有兩艘貨船運送貨物出口至香港。

於1956年,陳川如老先生率先離開汕頭基地到達香港,同年萬順昌開業於上環干諾道西27號閣樓。其元配及第三代傳人陳為松先生、陳川如二弟及三弟先後於1958年抵港。

萬順昌紮根香港以來,經過多次搬遷擴張,於1990年自置上環永樂街199號全幢為萬順昌大廈。於2018年,萬順昌第三、第四代傳人順利交接,憑籍過去近100年努力經營所贏得的良好品牌信譽及同業口碑,新一代精益求精,大力擴展經營範圍,進軍海外及零售領域,將萬順昌品牌帶領至一個嶄新高峯。

Introduction to Man Shun Cheong

Man Shun Cheong 萬順昌 was established in 1928 and has nearly a century of wholesale experience. With a focus on integrity and the pursuit of quality and quantity, it supplies high-quality seafood, dried fruits, and other products, which are highly welcomed by retail peers.

In 2018, Man Shun Cheong took a further step by introducing canned abalone as its flagship product, expanding into overseas markets and the retail sector. Its canned abalone has made breakthroughs in both production methods and taste, earning recommendations from connoisseurs.

Centuries of Heritage – The History of Man Shun Cheong

During the late Qing Dynasty, the founder of the company, Chen Qiunan 陳秋南先生, migrated from Fujian to Shantou, leveraging the local advantages to start a trading business with a modest capital of only ten thousand dollars 一萬元, focusing on seafood, groceries, and dried fruits. By making use of port transportation, he was able to trade with Shanghai, Tianjin, Wenzhou, and other places.

The second-generation successor, Chen Chuan Ru 陳川如老先生, born in 1910, took over the family business and at the age of 18, decided to establish Man Shun Cheong independently, with the company's name reflecting the aspiration for smooth 順風順水 and prosperous business 昌盛繁榮operations.

Man Shun Cheong was founded in 1928 at No. 10 Chaoyi Street, Shantou City, Guangdong Province. Upholding the principles of the first generation, it emphasized integrity and significantly improved the quality of goods. Its product range included high-grade seafood, groceries, and dried fruits. Due to its commitment to integrity and reputation among peers, its business grew rapidly in less than 10 years. At its peak, it purchased land in Shantou to build warehouses and owned two cargo ships for exporting goods to Hong Kong.

In 1956, Mr. Chen Chuan Ru 陳川如老先生left the base in Shantou and arrived in Hong Kong. In the same year, Man Shun Cheong opened its business at the attic of No. 27 Connaught Road West, Sheung Wan. His wife and third-generation descendants, Mr. Chen Wei Song 陳為松先生, and Chen Chuan Ru's second and third brothers arrived in Hong Kong in 1958.

Since its establishment in Hong Kong, Wan Shun Cheong has undergone several relocations and expansions. In 1990, it acquired the entire building at No. 199 Wing Lok Street , Sheung Wan, as Wan Shun Cheong Building 上環永樂街199號全幢為萬順昌大廈. In 2018, the third and fourth-generation successors of Man Shun Cheong smoothly transitioned, leveraging the good brand reputation and peer reputation earned through nearly 100 years of hard work. The new generation strives for excellence, vigorously expanding its business scope, entering overseas and retail markets, and leading the Man Shun Cheong brand to new heights.
